KARL ROLFE

Married to a Tasmanian, I am originally from New Zealand. I have a solid technical background beginning my work life in the 1980s as an industrial maintenance electrician then moving into industrial electronics. From early in my career the lure of technology led me into industrial automation and exploring the use of the personal computer in work.
A career move then saw me using and teaching technology for translation work. In this field I saw the value of patience in training, assisting others to grasp and master concepts to help them work more effectively. I am constantly looking for better and more cost-effective ways to use software to solve problems. Seeing computer technologies complete tasks for us humans many times quicker and with better repeatable accuracy than we can achieve always gives me a great kick.
Building business knowledge relies on experience coupled with good quality data. Small and micro business owners have plenty of experience but don’t always know how best to gather and present data to convert it to valuable knowledge. In recent years I have begun working with Microsoft automation and business analysis tools to develop high quality solutions, enabling deep insight for small business owners into how various aspects of their business is performing. This is an exciting and rapidly developing field.
I am a micro business operator, with a focus on business process automation, data analysis and cybersecurity and I love seeing people get excited when technology works well for them.
